Burberry Could Be Losing The Rights To Use Its Famous Check Design In China? Luxury Fashion House Appeals As China Cancels Iconic Tartan Trademark
This week Reports have emerged that Burberry could lose the rights to its iconic plaid print design in China, after a long battle with a rival Chinese company, Polo Santa Roberta that makes similar products. The company from Guangdong initiated cancellation proceedings with the Chinese Trademark Office last February, challenging the Burberry’s trademarked tartan design.
Gucci Loses GG Logo Trademark in the UK
Gucci the Italian fashion house has had its famous interlocking GG Monogram trademark revoked in the UK, on the grounds of non-use. In an interesting set of proceedings, UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) saidGucci were able to retain the registration of their iconic GG trademark for non-medicated toilet preparations; perfumes in class 3, showing evidence that the mark was used from October 2010 for the fragrance Gucci Guilty in the UK.
Luxury Brand Hermès Loses China Trademark Dispute
Fashion house Hermès, a luxury brand based in France, has lost its trademark dispute in China to cancel a trademark similar to the Chinese version of it's name. Hermes registered its English name in China in 1977. However, it never registered its Chinese name as a trademark.
